Why I Love Fall
Why do I love the fall so much? The answer may seem incredibly obvious. But, then again, so is the question. What is there not to love about fall? I realize that I do not live in a state where there are four traditional-weathered seasons, but I would imagine that the fall is perfect everywhere.

In the winter, there is a ton of snow and ice, and people’s cars freeze, and there’s dirt and mud everywhere, no leaves, etc. etc. Fine. In the spring it’s humid and rains a lot. Okay. In the summer the weather is miserable and ugly people walk around without a lot of clothes on. Understandably annoying. But fall? The weather is crisp and cool, the fashion is great, the holiday music starts to play, Black Friday produces massive sales, the colors of the leaves change…and, of course, the food that’s in season is incredible.

Are You Ready for Halloween?
Maybe I shouldn’t admit this, but personally, I love the cheesiness of Halloween. Carving pumpkins, giving/getting candy, making ridiculous decorations, watching scary movies, buying dry ice that really serves no other purpose but to look freaking awesome, candy apples (not to be confused with caramel apples), etc.

How old is too old to trick-or-treat? Around my campus people are basically just into partying, but back in my hometown (close to San Francisco), we would get college kids coming to our doorstep, decked out in costume. Usually if anyone was older than 14, my mom would make them do something somewhat humiliating to get a piece of candy—dance around, howl, sing, whatever.
If someone had tried to make me do that I would have just left…granted, I quit trick-or-treating when I was like 13.

Labor Day is Coming Up!
The first Monday of September marks the end of summer (kind of). It’s Labor Day weekend, and everyone will be taking advantage of their last chance to cookout or to go somewhere for a few days.

Labor Day has been a recognized holiday since 1882 (legal, federal holiday since 1894) and celebrates the working people of the United States. People are encouraged to take the day off to rest and just have fun for a well-deserved break.
Other traditions of the holiday include barbeques and store sales. I can only imagine what this year’s sales will look like; I bet they will be great! Just the other day I saw a store with a “Staying in Business” sale where all their merchandise was 65-75% off. Just imagine what their Labor Day sale will be like!
Another good thing about Labor Day is that it’s a sign that the NFL season is starting again. Traditionally, the first game of the season is the Thursday after Labor Day. Of course, this also means that school will be starting again…but that’s okay, school is good for you! At least there will be football games to look forward to, right?
Enjoy the long weekend!
