Netflix Buys TV Series Rights

Original programming will soon be coming to Netflix, and the highers-up at Netflix want you to know that it’s okay if you don’t watch on the first week, the first month, or even the first year. With full confidence, Netflix has pushed forward in buying the rights and ordering 26 hour-long episodes of a show called “House of Cards.”

Netflix

“House of Cards” is based on a novel about British politics during the 20-year reign of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and will star Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey.

Apple Alters Purchase Policy

Over the last year or so, I’ve been hearing more and more about people’s kids going on Apple shopping sprees on their iPhones and iPads without the parents’ realizing it. First of all, why are you letting your kid play with your iPhone/iPad without supervising? Second, the kids have gotten smarter.

App Store

They’ve figured out how to just go in and buy games that look fun to them. If the owner of the device is already logged into their iTunes account, then no password or credit card information had been required in order to make the purchase. And, of course, no returns!

So since Apple had gotten a lot of complains about this issue, in the new iOS 4.3 (the iPhone/iPad’s operating system), the user will always be prompted for a password for the first in-app purchase someone tries to make when they open the app store. It adds a little bit of security to be more kid-friendly, but it isn’t a huge distraction. Once you log into the app store, you can make multiple purchases without the password prompt.

Apple Reveals iPad 2

Apple announced yesterday (March 2) that it has been working on a second generation of iPad, which is simply called the “iPad 2.”

ipad2

The major differences are that the iPad 2 has a dual camera, and that it has a gyroscope, has support for GSM/CDMA 3G wireless, HDMI video out with external cable, and magnetic screen covers. Other than that, the physical differences are practically nil. The actual screen size is the same (9.7″); the weight is slightly lower (1.5lbs vs. 1.3lbs). Oh yeah; it also comes in white.

VERIZON IPHONE SELLS OUT

No, I’m not talking about the figurative meaning of being a “sell-out.” Turns out, Verizon Wireless iPhone demands were even bigger than either Verizon or Apple thought…

After having a “pre-order” supply of the Verizon iPhone that was supposed to last from February 3rd to February 10th, when the iPhone would be officially available, both Verizon and Apple had to shut down pre-order sales in just 17 hours. That’s right, all of the undisclosed supply of iPhones were sold between the hours of 3:00AM and 8:10PM EST.
