Conan’s Coming to TBS!
The wait is over, everybody! Conan O’Brien will make his triumphant return to television in November, after the World Series!!
Says CoCo, “The good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I’ll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show.” He sure does know how to bring the funny. Anyway, so unlike what everyone thought was going to happen, Conan is going to make the move from a big network to basic cable. Originally, people had been hearing rumor upon rumor that he would go from NBC to Fox.
But I guess TBS made him a better deal? Or maybe he just got sick of the national broadcasts? I think it’s an interesting decision, honestly. I don’t think it’s good or bad, just…interesting. His show on TBS will be on at 11P.M. Monday through Thursday. Okay here’s what that means: he’ll be on at the same time as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and he’ll also cut through The Colbert Report, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Tonight Show (but who cares about that, right?). His move to TBS also pushes George Lopez’s show back an hour to midnight, thus taking over his original 11P.M. slot.
Will you watch CoCo’s new show? I’m actually really excited. Being on a basic cable network will allow him so much more freedom. If you don’t believe me, try watching Jay Leno (GAH) and then Jon Stewart. Like…if you’re a 68 year-old woman who is hard of hearing, then Jay Leno is the “humor” and language for you. If you’re witty and have opinions and like to be challenged then watch Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert, or even David Letterman (who I think has the best balance of humor and language for a wide age range). Or, starting in November, watch Conan!!!
