Gaga Goes Country

I know it’s *kind* of old news (kind of), but I haven’t mentioned it yet, and I’d like to. Last week, Lady Gaga released a “country” version of her latest smash-hit single “Born This Way.”

I have to say…I don’t like it. If you read this blog regularly, you’ll know how I’m actually a fan of Gaga (even though I refuse to call myself a “little monster.” Sorry.), so don’t take this the wrong way. A lot of the things that Gaga does are probably gimmicks (see: egg), but I think she’s gone too far with this “country” version of “Born This Way.”

Why do I keep putting country in quotation marks, you ask? Well, listen to the song and you’ll understand. Nothing sounds different in this remix except for the background noise. If she went back into a studio and re-recorded her vocals in this piece, then I’d be really surprised, and I’d actually be impressed that she was able to make it sound so identical to the pop single.

Take a listen to the song and see if you feel the same way that I do. It’s gone too far, I think, and it just seems like some kind of ploy to get newer fans. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s fine to promote oneself and find new ways to earn followers, but that’s the thing: she should earn them in a way that’s not so blatantly and poorly produced.
