George Michael Covers Stevie Wonder
For the upcoming nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton, British pop star George Michael recorded a cover version of Stevie Wonder’s “You And I.” He stated that he spent about two days working in the studio, making sure the cover was perfect.
Michael said the idea just came to him one day, and that he decided to pursue the idea. He approached Wonder who agreed to provide clearance for the copyright so that Michael could distribute the song, but Wonder did so at no cost. Michael, a friend of Princess Diana, wanted to express his happiness for the royal family through his song.
I have always loved this song, and I’m not going to lie, I’ve always been a fan of George Michael, too. What a strange guy, but what a gem, right? But “You And I” is one of the greats, and has been covered by a lot of famous artists (I think my favorite cover comes from Michael Buble). Check out George Michael’s version for the Royal Wedding above!
