“Glee” Movie in August?
Coming to a theater near you…Glee in concert. On film. Wait. Okay, so not only could you go see the Glee cast on tour over the summer, but apparently if you only want to spend $10 you can go to a movie theater and see…the concert.
Fox is really going all out to capitalize on Glee while the show is still immensely popular, huh? The film, titled Glee Live! 3D! which plays on the actual summer concert’s title, Glee Live! In Concert! resembles the Fox special on The Simpsons. Do you remember that? It was called “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special! In 3D! On Ice!”
Anyway, said the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, “This tour was all about going out and performing for our amazing fans who have supported our show from the beginning, but due to the limited time we had to travel during our hiatus, there were only so many cities we could get to before we had to resume work on the television series.”
The film will be in theaters on a two-week run beginning on August 12, 2011. The show (concert and film) will feature 14 cast members. Who went to the shows last year? I can’t remember who participated in the tour. I think the show’s heavy-hitters were there, though. But, who knows about this year (now that they’re more famous)?
