Gonna Watch The Emmys on Sunday?
This Sunday marks the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards! Are you excited?
I’m always excited on the days approaching the awards shows, and then, very suddenly, I get very un-excited. Why, you ask? It’s because I often watch at least 60% of the nominees of a given category, so the odds should be in my favor, right?…wrong. The ones I want to win never seem to actually win. Every year in the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series section, I seem to watch four out of five (everybody but Alec Baldwin)…..and who wins? Yeah. Every. Year.
So this year I’m wondering if it will be the same, you know? Almost every category is like this for me! I do, however, watch quite a few more of the nominees this year than I have in previous years. However, a lot of those nominees come from the Glee family, and I don’t want any of them to win. Well, maybe Jane Lynch.
Think Lost will take Outstanding Drama Series this year?! I mean, it’s its last year…it may get the pity vote. Thoughts? How about Modern Family for Outstanding Comedy Series? I think it’s an underdog, but it has a decent shot at taking the award.
You know, after looking at the list of the actors nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series, I only watch two of them (Steve Carell for The Office and Matthew Morrison for Glee). I would absolutely hate it if Matthew Morrison took the award. Well I guess it doesn’t matter; Baldwin will take it. Again. Or actually, I bet it’ll be Tony Shalhoub (AGAIN.) for Monk since that show ended, too. I’ll bet you $5.
I wonder who will take Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series? Jon Hamm (yay)? Michael C. Hall (YAY)? Let’s hope it’s one of them. (It won’t be.)
How about the actresses? Tina Fey for 30 Rock? Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie? Toni Collette again for The United States of Tara? I want to watch that show. Every time I watch these award shows, they make me think of things I want to start watching. Then I realize I watch too much TV as it is. Then I start watching new shows anyway. It’s a good pattern.
How about supporting actresses? Christina Hendricks, please!
Well regardless of all these nominees, Sunday should be a really exciting night full of deserved and undeserved wins across the board! Oh come on, you were thinking the same thing.
P.S. How did Alexander Skarsgard get snubbed?
