Idol Boosts Aerosmith
Before American Idol season 10 premiered on January 19th, Aerosmith’s sales had been pretty slow. And why not? They haven’t produced a new record since 2004. However, once people started seeing lead singer Steven Tyler pretty regularly again, and also seeing how entertaining he is, suddenly sales started to climb.
Aerosmith’s sales have now risen to over 250% of what the pace had been over the last few years, and it’s all due to Tyler’s gig on American Idol. The biggest seller at this point, and probably the most obvious, is the compilation of Aerosmith’s greatest hits, called Big Ones.
Of course, Big Ones was released in 1994, so it doesn’t contain their only #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” (ironically).
I’m sure we’ll get equally impressive numbers and boosts from Jennifer Lopez’s camp, too, as she seems to be incredibly likable on the show so far. The only one who isn’t as good as I had expected is Randy, who just seems awkward and as if he doesn’t want to take the reigns. Better get on that, Randy!
