Justin Bieber is Climbing the Charts
I’m not sure what to think about this kid. He seems to have popped out of nowhere. (I think the first time I saw him, ever, was back in September at the VMA awards—but who remembers Justin when there was the whole Kanye-Taylor Swift debacle?) Now, though, he’s everywhere and has this HUGE fanbase!
His latest single is “Baby” and in about 12 hours of its release, it soared to #2 on the iTunes charts, as well as the U.S. and U.K. Billboard charts. How does that even happen?
Bieber was discovered by Usher and Justin Timberlake, and they both fought for the chance to manage him and his blooming career. Of course, as we all know, Usher won that one. Honestly, though, I’m not sure if it would have mattered who managed him: he was going to get a major fanbase regardless. He’s got the boyish looks and an actually decent voice. Plus he seems to write (or at least help write) music himself, which is always refreshing and admirable to me.
Just in the last few months, Bieber has released “One Time,” “One Less Lonely Girl,” “Love Me,” “Favorite Girl,” and now “Baby,” which was released yesterday. He must be absolutely exhausted! Oh, yeah, he performed at the White House Christmas dinner, too… and he does all of this at the young age of 15. Craziness!
