Kanye Proves He is Still a D-Bag
As I mentioned previously, I was worried about what Russell Brand would say on television. Clearly, I underestimated him. Well, kind of. But while Russell Brand was edgy with his comments, Kanye West was just outright rude.

One of the first awards handed out at the VMAs last night was for Best Female Video. There were many amazing leading ladies nominated, but a surprised Taylor Swift took the award for “You Belong With Me.” She was on stage maybe 30 seconds before Kanye West climbed his way up the stairs, uninvited, took the microphone right out of Taylor Swift’s hands, turned toward the audience, and announced that Beyonce’s music video is one of the greatest of all time. Basically he felt that Taylor Swift should not have won over Beyonce.
Kanye took Taylor Swift’s spotlight after she had just thanked MTV and the audience for giving a teenaged country singer a chance to win amongst major music veterans (like Beyonce). Really classy, Kanye.

Beyonce went on to win the Best Video of the Year award for “Single Ladies.” When she went on the stage to accept the award, she called Taylor Swift back to finish her acceptance speech, since it was rudely stripped from her. Beyonce stated that she remembered what it felt like to be a teenager and how excited she was to win awards like this, and urged her to have her moment.
It’s nice to see that Beyonce not only addressed the issue but tried to put herself in Taylor Swift’s shoes. If it were me, I’d be devastated, too. She didn’t deserve that. He apologized on his blog, but seriously, it’s not enough at all. (Maybe someone should nominate him for Tool Academy?)
It was also nice to see that Kanye West was promptly kicked out of the show. Not a strict enough punishment, but it’ll do, I guess.
