Lil Wayne Released
After serving an eight month sentence for attempted weapon possession, Lil Wayne has been released from prison at Riker’s Island in New York. His full sentence was one year, which began in March 2010, but he received time off “for good behavior.”
Why did I put good behavior in quotation marks? Well, one would think it is odd that he got a reduced jail term after having to be placed in solitary confinement in September of 2010 for disciplinary reasons. But hey, I don’t make the rules.
In an open letter Lil Wayne wrote to Billboard Magazine, he stated that his fans, their support, and their encouragement meant a lot to him while he was serving his jail sentence. He also assured them, though, that “”I will be the same Martian I was when I left, just better,” referring to his future work as a musician.
We’ll see if he keeps that promise!
