New Album: Lady Gaga
Seems as if we have been waiting a really long time for Gaga’s new album, huh?
Well, the time has finally come and yesterday, Lady Gaga released her latest album, Born This Way. Actually, on its first day of release, Amazon decided to sell the 14-track album for $0.99…too bad fans went into a frenzy over this and crashed the Amazon Cloud system. Do you know how difficult it is to do that?! Little Monsters were certainly paying attention yesterday.
Anyway, I’ve now had a full day and a half to sit down, listen to the album, and thoroughly think about whether or not I like it. Here it goes: while it is far superior to The Fame, it is not as good as the extended play (EP) she released, The Fame Monster. The latter contains what I think is one of the greatest pop songs of all time, “Bad Romance,” along with smash hits “Telephone,” and “Alejandro.”
It’s true, none of those songs reached #1 on the Billboard charts (as “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” did from The Fame), but that doesn’t really measure quality (for example, Bob Dylan does not have a single #1 Billboard song).
There is a lot of content on Born This Way. I’m glad that Gaga got “Born This Way” out of the way first as a single, because I think there are more hits to be had that are superior, such as “Judas,” “Edge of Glory” and “Hair.” It’s certainly extremely pop, though, almost like a Whitney Houston throwback. Check it out now!
