New Albums: Cake and Cage the Elephant
Cake – Showroom of Compassion
Cake hasn’t released an album since 2004, when their album Pressure Chief soared to #17 on the Billboard 200. Seven years later, they’re back with Showroom of Compassion and eleven new tracks.
The band is probably most famous for their 2001 hit, “Short Skirt/Long Jacket.” I can’t believe it’s been a decade since that song came out, but there you go. Since then, and even before then, Cake has had a steady following of fans who have helped them sell millions of albums.
Now they’re back with this new album, and they’ve still got it. Their first single is “Sick of You” and has already started to climb charts. Check it out!
Cage the Elephant – Thank You Happy Birthday
Cage the Elephant entered the music scene in 2008 with their debut album, Cage the Elephant, and since then, they’ve only been getting more and more recognition and popularity in both the indie areas and in the mainstream arenas.
Their new album, Thank You Happy Birthday has gotten both audience and critical approval, so I’m sure it will give the band even more radio play and reception. The album contains 12 new songs from the band, and I honestly can’t pick a favorite. I like them all. It’s always safe to go with the singles, though, and the first off this album is “Shake Me Down.”
But I’d recommend listening to all of them. Right now, the hard-copy album is only $6.99 on Amazon, so check it out!
