New Albums: Ke$ha and Katharine McPhee
Ke$ha – Animal
Ke$ha has become very popular, very quickly. The good thing about Ke$ha is that she writes her own music (with collaborators, of course). The bad thing about Ke$ha is that she doesn’t sing my type of music so I don’t have a lot to say…maybe that’s not really bad. Who knows?
However, her debut single, “Tik Tok” skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, reaching #1 even before Gaga’s “Bad Romance” did (which is insane, but whatever). Her style is quirky and pretty different, which, I guess people find to be endearing. She mixes actual song with talking/rap/something indescribable to mesh together her songs.
The album, Animal, is full of songs that sound similar to “Tik Tok” (like “Blah Blah Blah” and “Dinosaur”), so if you like her first single, you’ll most likely enjoy the rest of her album. You should pick up a copy today—the hard copy on Amazon is only $6.99 right now!
Katharine McPhee – Unbroken
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from Katharine McPhee, the American Idol alum. Rumor has it (or, not rumor, I guess…it’s actually true) that she went off to sing opera for awhile. That’s cool; she has a voice that would work for opera.
But now she’s back into the pop music scene with her second studio album, Unbroken. The music is soft-spoken and melodious, which works for her, I think. Her first album, simply titled, Katharine McPhee, sold upwards of 375,000 copies which is pretty good for someone off of Idol. Only time will tell if she has kept up with the times.
So far, the most popular track off of her new album has been “Say Goodbye.” It’s very, very slow, pretty ballad. It’s different from her first singles (like “Over It”), but I guess with a new makeover (her new platinum blonde ‘do) comes a new style of music. Check out the album now!
