New Albums: Lady Antebellum and Corinne Bailey Rae
Lady Antebellum – Need You Now
Well this album has been on Amazon’s best-selling list for 57 days (and is currently at #1), but has only been officially released for 3 days. What does that tell you?
Now, I had to look up the fact that Lady Antebellum is a country group (until, of course, I started listening to Need You Now). They seem to have come out of nowhere, haven’t they? Technically they’ve been around since 2006, but their first album hit the stores in 2008 and ended up taking the #1 spot in the U.S. Country (Billboard) lists.
The newest album, Need You Now, has already released a hit single, “Need You Now,” which peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Most of the songs are pretty up-beat, but there are some nice ballads, too. Check out the album today!
Corinne Bailey Rae – The Sea
It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Corinne Bailey Rae! Man, that was one major hit she had back in early 2006 (“Put Your Records On”)? Well she hasn’t released an album since her debut Corinne Bailey Rae in 2005. It’s about time for her sophomore album!
Right from the get-go, I like the look of The Sea. The album cover is so pretty, and she looks gorgeous! And the colors are so vivid and beautiful…well played, Corinne. The twelve new tracks have a similar—but more grown up—feel to her debut record, so if you liked the first, you’ll like the second!
The soft-toned Brit sounds great on every track. My particular favorites are “Are You Here” and “Feels Like the First Time” (not to be confused with another of my favorite songs, Boston’s “Feels Like the First Time”!). The first single, “I’d Do it All Again,” is kind of a strange choice for a single—being pretty slow-paced—but whatever works for her! Check out the album today!
