New Albums: Maroon 5 and Zac Brown Band
Another week, another set of new albums! Actually, there are quite a few good ones out this week, including John Legend & The Roots and Santana. But today I’ll focus on a couple of other heavy-hitters:
Maroon 5 – Hands All Over
This new album has an astounding 17 tracks on it (actually 18 if you get it from iTunes)! Maroon 5 fans, rejoice! It’s been three years since It Won’t Be Soon Before Long and now they’re back with Hands All Over. By the way, have you seen the cover of this album? It reminds me of some of those blog posts that show the world’s worst Photoshop jobs where there are extra limbs and things in photos. But obviously, I know that doesn’t apply to this album.
The first single off the album, “Misery” has been received with success, and I think that’s because it sounds a lot like their previous work. As I listen to the rest of the album, they remain consistent with their genre of music, but I think it’s more advanced than the songs in It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. Listen to “Stutter,” for one. It’s a lot different from “Misery,” I think. The title track, too, “Hands All Over,” is also good. And “How,” too.
I’m glad Maroon 5 is still around. Adam Levine is a funny guy (@adamlevine on Twitter) and they have a lot going for them. Pick up Hands All Over and its 17 tracks (including an acoustic version of “Misery” and a live version of “If I Ain’t Got You“) today! There’s also a track featuring Lady Antebellum, too, for those of you who like both rock and country music.
Zac Brown Band – You Get What You Give
This new album from the Zac Brown Band also has a lot of tracks on it! 14 in the regular album but 18 on iTunes.
It’s been two years since their hit album The Foundation came out. That was really their breakout album, peaking at #2 on the Billboard 200 list. For an unknown (at the time) country band, that’s big. So now they’re back with a whole lot of new songs on You Get What You Give and the music is just as good as it was on their last album.
It’s very southern, too. You see songs like “Whiskey’s Gone” and “Quiet Your Mind” and you immediately know what kind of song it’s going to be, don’t you? But that’s what the Zac Brown Band does! There are upbeat songs, yes, but there are a lot of slow, soulful country ballads.
Check out You Get What You Give today!
