Prince Says the Internet is Dead

Hmmmm…you sure?

prince

According to the pop star Prince (who hasn’t released a top-10 hit since 1994 with “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World”…I guess “I Hate U” came close in 1995 at #12, though.  But still), “The Internet’s like MTV: at one time MTV was hip and suddenly, it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.”

Well, wait…those are two completely separate issues.  It doesn’t seem as if he’s saying the internet is actually obsolete (because, honestly, who is going to agree with that?), but he’s rather complaining by saying that it “can’t be good,” maybe health-wise, to be spending so much time on the internet.  He’s right, MTV isn’t really cool anymore, but the internet is still very much alive and kicking.

After digging a little deeper, I’ve found that Prince does not allow YouTube to use/show his music.  He also does not release his music to Apple’s iTunes, where most artists can be found today. You can find a few of his singles on there, but considering he has released 21 studio albums with 103 official singles, he’s practically absent from iTunes. Until recently, I thought *every* artist was on iTunes, but I’ve been proven wrong.

Well, Prince, if the internet comes crashing down anytime soon, everyone will remember that you were right…but I wouldn’t count on it.
