R.I.P. Patrick Swayze
Even though we knew Patrick Swayze had been dealing with cancer for 20 months, his passing still seems sudden. The actor died yesterday, with his family at his bedside, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was only 57.
Of course, people everywhere will remember him for his major roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost. He was one of the few people who gracefully made the transition from dancing to acting without a hitch, and went on to star in some iconic roles. Personally I will always see him as Bodhi from Point Break.
In his last role, Swayze played a veteran FBI agent in a TV series. A&E agreed to shoot an entire season of “The Beast” because Swayze was optimistic about his cancer treatments. The show aired from January to April of this year and was well-received by audiences and critics. However, the show was canceled on June 15 when Swayze could no longer work due to his illness.
Patrick Swayze stayed positive for so many months as he tried to battle the disease. He often mentioned that his work as an actor was his motivation to keep fighting against cancer, and he hoped that he had made an impact on people’s lives. He was, and will remain, known for being an all-around good person with an extensive body of work.
