Any Good Sales on Black Friday?
Friday was the coveted “Black Friday,” the day on which stores and people go crazy with sales. Personally, I don’t really like dealing with people all hopped up on sugar and caffeine trying to pick their way through the crowds to get the stuff they really want. And by “pick,” I mean hit, shove, attack, kick in the shins, and everything else violent and insane.
So what was good this year? I had heard a lot of hype about the Apple sale. People were going nuts with excitement at the prospect of getting a good deal on a new Mac or iPad (want!) or something, but the thing is, I looked at those sales. Nothing had more than about an 8% discount, which, on a $2000 computer, isn’t too significant if you’re looking for a great deal. You’d get a much better discount as a student.
What else? I heard Target had some good sales, such as $99 Blu-ray players. Actually, that’s pretty outstanding. Here’s the catch, though: Target opened its doors at 4:00AM on Friday morning. YIKES! So those Blu-ray players were probably all gone by about 6:00AM. You snooze (literally), you lose! I remember when it was crazy when stores would open their doors at 7:00AM on Black Friday. Seems to be getting earlier and earlier every single year. It’s pretty outrageous, if you ask me. I think Kohl’s opened its doors at 3:00AM, too.
If you don’t like dealing with the crowds (like me), you can check out some online sales! I got a few things from Amazon.com ($6.49 Blu-rays?! Okay!), which is always fun. I have a problem resisting books and movies and those kinds of things, though.
