European Operators Looking to Create OS

The mobile operators  Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Vodafone and Telefonica have set up a conference with each other to discuss the possibility of merging ideas and developing a mobile platform for their products. They seem to be worried about Apple’s operating system, as well as Google’s Android operating system.

So, in order to preemptively counteract the takeover of Apple and Google, the European operators are getting together next month in Paris to try to see if they can’t get a common OS in the works.  Not only would this be convenient for all four of the operators, but it would be convenient for their users as well.

Who knows how the negotiations will go? Personally, I think this would be a good move for all of these companies. I think an Apple/Google takeover is imminent unless they can get this type of development in the mix.
