Facebook for Android Adds New Features
Android users: rejoice! Facebook adds push notifications and chat functions to Android OS phones.
This is a big move. Android users can now receive notifications and IMs while they are using other applications on their smartphones, meaning, they don’t necessarily have to be using the Facebook app at that moment in order to receive an IM. What’s a plus point, though, is that while the alerts tell users when they’ve received an IM, they don’t go further and alert users to new comments, tags, etc. Only instantaneous action will be shown to the user.
Currently, Facebook is Android’s second-most-popular application, which makes it not quite as popular as it is on the iPhone. However, if they continue to produce winning features and upgrades, my guess is that its popularity can only grow.
