First-Day iPhone 4 Sales
Is anyone surprised that in its first day on the market, Apple’s iPhone 4 sold about 1.5 million units? If you are…you shouldn’t be.
People stood in line for up to eight hours just to buy the iPhone 4 on the first day. People started rumors that Jason Bateman was booed because he got to cut the lines (according to his Twitter, those rumors were false)…See? People were so delirious that they had to make up stupid rumors to pass the time!
That is a buttload of phones.
Let me put it this way: when the second generation of the iPhone came out in 2008, on the first weekend, it sold 1 million units. In 2009, when the next-generation of iPhones came out, again, in the first weekend, 1 million were sold. People must have been very impressed with the previews and promos they’ve seen over the last few months! It’s estimated that about 77% of users who were in line on Friday were upgrading previous iPhones they already had.
Good news for Apple, right? Customers keep coming back to buy their products! It doesn’t seem as if there are any major changes to the phone, either, except for the design and the camera. Apparently, people can do little mini cam-to-cam chats via iPhone now (but only between iPhone 4s). Sounds good to me!
