Mobile News: Microsoft Announces Zune HD
Microsoft is geared up to release an HD Zune, which is their version of an mp3 player, on September 15. It is the next generation of the media player from Microsoft in an attempt to compete with Apple’s iPod Touch.
Whether or not Microsoft is ready to introduce an application store (similar to iTunes) is beside the point—the HD Zune will be equipped to handle internet, applications, and media. It includes an HD radio receiver and a 3.3” touch screen (about an inch shorter than the iPod Touch). Its sleek design and simple configuration make this device user-friendly and cool to look at.
It will also compete with Apple in terms of price. The HD Zune will be offered in two options, 16GB memory ($219.99) or 32GB memory ($289.99). These prices are slightly lower than the iPod touch, with the 16GB at $299 and the 32GB at $399.
