Microsoft Glitch Causes Problems
For the last few days, people with Sidekick phones have been having problems with their data.
A representative from Microsoft said that there was a glitch in the system which caused problems with their computers and, inevitably, users’ cell phone data. Many people lost their contacts (names and numbers), mobile photos, etc.
The most common occurrence of this issue was seen when users removed their phones’ batteries. When they replaced the battery and turned the phone back on, all contact information and digital photographs were gone. This also happened when users let their batteries run out; after they charged the battery and turned the phone back on, all digital data had been erased.
Engineers are hopeful about recovering this data, but they are also realistic, stating that the “likelihood of a successful outcome is extremely low.” As of now they continue to look into the problems to try to solve them (as well as to prevent them from happening in the future), and are apologizing to their customers.
The only good thing to come out of this is that it seems that Perez Hilton may have had a Sidekick, and lost his data…
