Microsoft to Announce New Phones
I heard some rumors in March that Microsoft was working on a new line of phones, and that their name for the development was “Pink.” I didn’t really believe it…but as it turns out, Microsoft is working on a new line of smartphones, and the name they’ve been using is “Pink.” Interesting.

Anyway, so they’re building these new smartphones that will also feature a new operating system, tentatively called “Windows Phone 7.” Sounds familiar, right? Microsoft has been hard at work to create a phone that will rival Apple’s iPhone, RIM’s BlackBerry phones, and Google’s Nexus One. According to WirelessFederation.com, too, Verizon is the company that is working with Microsoft on this phone, at the moment. Verizon and Vodafone are going to be key contributors to the design and efficiency factors to this phone: they know what smartphone users want.
The phone should be announced (and production elements released) at an event today, April 12, first to insiders and then to the public. Hopefully we’ll get pictures and design drawings and new operating system details, too! I’m interested to see what Microsoft has in mind for this new smartphone. I know a lot of companies right now are heavily focusing on the efficiency of the social networking applications on their smartphones, so there is no doubt that Microsoft will follow suit.
Do you think they’ll keep the name “Pink”? I know it is extremely unlikely that they will, but even just the development name. Pink? Really? Couldn’t they have picked a better color? Or even if they wanted to use the color of pink, why not use a more exciting shade like magenta or something? Oh well, we’ll see what Microsoft says about this phone later today! Can’t wait!
