RIM BlackBerry Launches Social Networking Site
For those of you with BlackBerry phones, you probably know that the App World is much different from Apple’s Application Store. There are fewer applications and more complaints from BlackBerry users. I, myself, have a Storm and I don’t even bother looking through the App World right now. It is for that reason that RIM is releasing a social networking application tomorrow!
The network is called MyBlackBerry and will feature personal profiles that BlackBerry users can create and customize to fit their needs. For example, I won’t be seeing information and applications designed specifically for the Curve (since I have a Storm). I will also be able to chat with other BlackBerry users about what I like or don’t like about the phone itself, the App World, or anything else BlackBerry related. And, as an added bonus, RIM will be reading up on what users do or do not want on their phones and applications. The company is trying to cater to specific problems and concerns that BlackBerry users have been facing, and questions that may not have been answered (or resolved) in the past.
As a BlackBerry user, you will be able to discuss what your favorite applications are and what kinds of programs you would like to see more often, but in the form of a social networking site. Personally, I can’t wait for this to launch tomorrow: I’m really interested to see what kinds of applications people are really drawn to, and also to find out some tips or tricks I may not have known about my phone before! Look for MyBlackBerry tomorrow!
