Verizon’s “Droid” Set for October 30?
Verizon Wireless has launched a website to promote a new Droid phone. Even though there has been no clear announcement or information regarding a release date for the device, the site might be hinting at October 30 of this year.
On the site, there is a coded countdown. Some sites believe that these symbols on the countdown represent numbers from 0-9 and that the countdown itself represents “October 30.”
The phone is presumably going to operate version 2.0 of the Android operating system, which has never been used on a phone before. The device is also said to be a match-up between Motorola and Verizon Wireless (and Google for the OS).
So far, the official promotional website gives very little information. It is mostly an advertisement poking fun at Apple’s iPhone, listing qualities that the iPhone cannot do (that the Droid will be able to do), without ever explicitly using the terms “Apple” or “iPhone”…or even “smartphone.”
We’ll keep you updated on this find! Looks interesting to me—check it out!
