Opening This Week: “The Social Network”
There has been a lot of buzz about David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin’s new movie, The Social Network, which portrays the (fictonalized?) story of Mark Zuckerberg, founder of the social media giant Facebook.

So at first, I thought this movie looked really stupid. Then as I’ve been hearing more hype about it, I thought it was going to be all hype and no delivery. But now…I’m curious. I’ve been hearing radio hosts and media bloggers talking about Oscar buzz, and I thought, Really? No. However, after doing a little reading about the film, I learned it was written by Aaron Sorkin, the genius writer who brought us A Few Good Men and The West Wing, and directed by David Fincher, who brought us great films such as Zodiac and Seven.
After seeing those things, well, I have to say, I kind of want to see this now! Oh, right, the fact that Mark Zuckerberg hates it and that there is a MySpace campaign for it makes me laugh, too, so that doesn’t hurt.
As of this last Friday, too, the film has been well-received by critics, debuting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 12 reviews. I’m seriously shocked! It’s not very often that I think a movie will surprise me, but honestly, I think this one just might. I may not think it’s worth the $12 movie ticket price tag, but it very well may be going on my Netflix queue! ![]()
Are you gonna check it out? Opens this Friday, October 1!
