Did You Watch the ACM Awards?
The American Country Music Awards were on Sunday–did you watch? Apparently, all the talk around town (and by town, I mean the internet) is about how Taylor Swift went home with nothing. How is that possible? She won multiple Grammys and an MTV award…but no ACM award? That’s BS!
Carrie Underwood ended up taking top prize of Entertainer of the Year award. I mean, that’s cool with me. She’s a great singer, has a good attitude, is perfect-looking. I can see how she’d be chosen as the entertainer of the year. However, Carrie’s sales numbers weren’t quite as massive as Taylor Swift’s… But I guess that’s not the only criterion for this award. That’s cool. It just seems as if Taylor Swift is really balanced, too. Oh well, not my decision; I also don’t think it’s a bad choice, either. Just a little surprising, that’s all!
Other awards given out on Sunday were less surprising and dramatic (if this was even dramatic, really). Check it out:
TOP MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR: Brad Paisley
TOP FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR: Miranda Lambert
TOP VOCAL GROUP OF THE YEAR: Lady Antebellum
TOP VOCAL DUO OF THE YEAR: Brooks & Dunn
TOP NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: Luke Bryan
ALBUM OF THE YEAR: “Revolution” – Miranda Lambert
SINGLE RECORD OF THE YEAR “Need You Now”- Lady Antebellum
SONG OF THE YEAR: “Need You Now” – Lady Antebellum
VIDEO OF THE YEAR: “White Liar”– Miranda Lambert
TRIPLE CROWN AWARD: Carrie Underwood
HUMANITARIAN AWARD: Montgomery Gentry
They all make sense to me! Brad Paisley is super famous; Lady Antebellum’s album and song were huge; Miranda Lambert is a country superstar. I don’t really know what the Triple Crown Award is…but that’s cool, I’m sure Carrie deserved it.
What do you think? Oh yeah, Reba McEntire hosted the event. She’s actually pretty funny; her line of the night? “I’d like to thank Tiger Woods and Jesse James for inspiring us all,” McEntire said. Ha! She was referring to the fact that country music writers like to draw from famous people and events in the news when they write songs. Well said, Reba.
