Kanye and T.I. Perform “Secret Shows”

Just in this past week, both Kanye West and T.I. performed what they called “secret shows” for a very small number of people.  Though they were at different venues, both rappers put on these shows in New York City (Kanye at The Box, T.I. at Capitale).

Kanye and John Lengend grabbed the stage at The Box club in NYC.  Legend was behind the piano and Kanye sang some of his big hits like “Homecoming.”  However, he also debuted one of his new tracks (off his upcoming album) called “Mama’s Boyfriend,” which is a telling autobiographical song.  If you’ve seen the YouTube videos of Kanye performing in a conference room at Facebook headquarters, you’ll know that he also performed “Mama’s Boyfriend” to Facebook employees.  Just a fun fact.

Kanye started this private, secret show around midnight and didn’t finish until after three in the morning on Saturday night.

T.I. also made a big show out of a small venue and audience the other day: in his first performance since his release from prison, T.I. pulled Mary J. Blige, Keri Hilson, B.o.B and others on stage with him for a full show.  He paused to thank his fans who supported him during his prison sentence, and then closed the show with his chart-toppers “Whatever You Like” and “Live Your Life.”

Kanye’s album is supposed to come out later this fall, in November, and T.I. has performances scheduled for fall beginning on September 25.  I wonder if anyone else will be performing any secret shows?!?  Katy Perry’s crashing proms, Gaga’s lighting up British pubs, Kanye and T.I. are showing NYC love…who’s next??
