Neverland Ranch = Music School?
There has been a lot of talk about what to do with Michael Jackson’s estate, especially now that it has been partially renovated. So now, there are rumors floating around that the people in charge of his Neverland Ranch (in Santa Ynez Valley, California) may want to turn it into a music school.
The school would be a highly-concentrated, tiny private school much like Julliard in New York. I think this is a decent, if not a little strange, idea. My reservations don’t come from opening a school on the grounds–I think that’s fine. But, would this be more like a music school for underprivileged kids? Or, would it be much, much more similar to Julliard in that it’s extremely expensive on top of being highly competitive? Would the kids live on the Ranch? Would it be a college or more like some kind of boarding school?
Before any of these things can be addressed, though, the government officials over in Santa Barbara County need to sign off on the idea of this property being a school. Sources say that this probably won’t be a problem. The ranch is in the middle of a residential area, but there are so few neighbors, and the property is already so famous and has a lot of visitors, that I don’t think anyone would mind.
