New Albums: Twilight New Moon Soundtrack and Five for Fighting
Well, it’s that time again. Almost one month to the day until Twilight Saga: New Moon hits the theaters.
Twilight: New Moon Soundtrack
We all know my stance on this series. However, I will be the first to admit how much I like “Decode.” I think it’s a great song (maybe too good for the movie?) and was a smart choice to use as the single off the album. Anyway, the main track for the New Moon soundtrack is “Meet Me on the Equinox.” I’m going to be honest: it isn’t as good as “Decode.” However, it fits the mood of the movie and Death Cab for Cutie is always a solid choice.
The rest of the album contains 14 other songs from major artists such as Muse, The Killers, OK Go, Band of Skulls, etc. The compilation of songs was chosen well by whoever put together this album—there is so much teenaged angst that it’s a little hard to handle… but that’s just me. I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what the executives were going for; so, well done, guys. It’s just emo enough to work for the Twilight-lovers.
Lucky for us, the New Moon soundtrack has been released a week early (due to high demand, naturally), so you can pick up your copy right now! Have at it!
Five for Fighting- Slice
If you liked Five for Fighting’s major hit, “100 Years,” you will definitely enjoy the title track of their new album, “Slice.” Actually, if you like their other major hit, “Superman,” you’ll really like the song, “Transfer.”
The entire album is in that soft-rock-type style. It’s mellow and great for a rainy day. Personally, I like the song “Tuesday” the most from the record. The sound of the band sounds like a cross between the Dave Matthews Band and something else I can’t quite put my finger on. It could be The Fray. Maybe after you listen to the new album you’ll be able to hear the mixture, too.
The first single off of Slice is “Chances.” It’s a very soundtrack-sounding song. It kind of sounds like it should be a part of that new Jennifer Aniston movie, Love Happens. Maybe that’s a little far fetched—I mean, I haven’t even seen the movie. The song sounds like it would fit, though, doesn’t it? It has that romantic love-story sound to it.
Slice hit stores on Tuesday so check it out today!
