Simon Cowell Leaving American Idol
After 9 seasons on the show, Simon Cowell will be taking his leave from the widely popular, American Idol. That’s right: at the end of this season, our favorite love-to-hate-sassy-British-talent-judge will be gone from Idol.
Simon has been known to say that he will quit while the show is ahead, while it’s #1, because otherwise, what’s the point of even being on a show at all? Right…? So, instead, he will be focusing on bringing his other reality competition show, The X Factor, to the United States.
Ellen Degeneres, the latest addition to Idol, had this to say about Simon’s departure: “So this just happened, Simon Cowell just announced that he’s leaving ‘Idol.’ This will be his last season. He announced he’s leaving on my first day. I’m trying not to take it personally,” she said.” She jokes, but I would feel the same way if I were her!
I’ve only been watching for a few seasons, but Simon really has made the show what it is today. I mean, without him, there wouldn’t be a need for a feisty British judge on literally every single reality competition show. It’s actually out of hand now. But hey, I guess we’ll see him again in 2011 on The X Factor, so it isn’t like we won’t see him again…all we have to do is decide whether or not we are going to continue watching the original Idol.
Will you be watching if there’s no Simon?
