This Summer’s Biggest Concerts May Surprise You

That’s right; the top earners of the week in concerts may come as a bit of a surprise…as Rod Stewart takes the #1 spot for money earned in 6 days.  He tops the chart with over $3.5 million for just a few shows.  Rod Stewart?!  He’s been touring since May, but it seems July concert goers felt like hearing some raspy ballads.

The number 2 spot won’t be surprising to anyone: Justin Bieber brought in nearly $3 million for just 6 shows, including a state fair in Paso Robles, California (central coast).  Come to think of it, I’ve heard good thing about Biebs’s concerts…did YOU check one out?  Apparently hundreds of thousands of people have already (in California alone), so I’m bound to hear something sometime soon.

In the number 3 place may be another surprising result.  James Taylor and Carole King are still taking tours together, and maybe it is because they keep earning the big bucks! With just two shows, the veterans brought in over $2 million, also in California: Oakland and Anaheim.  I was just watching a special on PBS about them, actually, and man, I can see why people keep flocking to their concerts.  They harmonize so well together.  Plus, James Taylor is what…62?  And there is still absolutely no raspiness to his voice; it is as smooth as ever.

Rounding out the rest of the list are Phish, Elton John, Yusef Islam (formerly Cat Stevens), Ringo Starr, and Sting.  Again, all veterans!  Kind of surprising, but I guess there is a reason why these artists have been around for decades and decades, right?
